Revolutions are seldom started at the bottom by pure idealistic and non-manipulative down-trodden urchins. Most who are later idealized as patriots in future histories were less than perfect, and did make compromises for the sake of political games necessary for the acquisiton of power, but their sins are forgiven if on balance progress is made. There can be room for the naïveté of enthusiastic supporters when balanced by the inherent inertia of the status quo. Sometimes the games end without injury. It's possible. So I imagine a fantasy
At A Rally For Mayawati
For a feat,
rose petals
at their feet

Her beauty
stuns my ignorance

My friend
is so exuberant
so endowed in joy
I cast aside
my bias

When I laugh
embraced by her,
I am merely
superior caste
of birth
unearned by virtue, but
in our revelations
that we have been, and
always will be,
I cast rose petals
at our feat

I rejoice at her rally
unashamed to
light her fireworks
be doused by colored powders,
share sweets

I will be your Dalit
if you will be my Brahmin

Utterly enmeshed
in Uttar Pradesh,
we are elected
to a parliament of love

@Karnail: I'm sure Kanshi Ram was the real founder, but since he is dead, it's appropriate to talk about Mayawati as a probable political power.

@Jagadeeshan: You can contact me via this contact form :-).

If you look at the politicians of the late 20th century, specially the dalits, there is only one name, Kanshi Ram, mentor of Mayawati. He struggled and rose rather evolved in the system but Mayawati never evolved any of the doctrines related to the emancipation of the less privileged. She is a opportunist and always puts her prejudices before the decisions of her party, needs of RAJNITI and ofcourse needs of the society. I support to some extent"Jitni jinki sankhya bhari, Utni unki hissedari", but this doctorine also has limitations. Read about Kanshi Ram.

[...] Amrit is pretty impressed with the Politics of Mayawati. We have seen a Dalit President and a Dalit Chief Justice. It will be nice to see a Dalit on PM chair too. Most of our politicians are evil, and they are stupid. No one has political acumen. They are manipulative, they are cunning, they are worse then the mafia, but when it comes to politics, they know nothing. Even if some have good intentions, they don’t know how to show those intentions. Mayawati knows her politics. She has shown all signs of political and ideological evolution. She is not stuck with her own views of the world. Linked by Krish [...]
