It Is Not Always Good To Be Kind

by Amrit Hallan on September 10, 2007

Just read this extremely awkward story. A guy let his friend move in in a time of desperate need. He even let his friend’s pregnant wife move in. He took care of his friend and his wife when his friend fell sick. He did everything he could to make their life comfortable. And now that the baby is due to arrive, they want him to move out. They think it’ll be too difficult to accommodate him with the baby. It’s a rented apartment.

Most of his friends think that he invited all this by being so kind from the very beginning, and even, as it seems, the law would be against him as it’s not taken kindly if you throw an infant and its mother out in the street. What do you think? Should he move out without a fight? I think he should. Would it taken as giving in too easily to a blatant manipulation? Yes. But I think, the guy knows he has been manipulated, and everybody around him knows that. He should take it as a good lesson and move on. May be he’ll get an even better place.

Heck, is he’s should move out and give up his apartment, maybe he should also plan on living nearby. These “parents” (breeders would be a better word, as they don’t seem much up on planning for having a child)are so stupid and shotsighted that they will no doubt need frequent baby sitting so they can continue to live the lives of teenagers. Might need free apartment cleaning services too. If the guy is so desperate for friends that he’s going to be a living doormat he ought to go all the way.
On a serious note – these “parents” have known for 8+ months that a baby is on the way. If they are incapable of making the most basic plans (and having a place to live is as basic a need as you can find) they ought to have had an abortion or planned on adopting out the baby. They are unfit to raise a child, period.

You got a point Marc. Unfortunately, neither the law, nor the common civil sense is on this guy’s side. He made an ass of himself and now he is paying for that.
