Says confused in a post titled What India Can Learn from America. Inner-party politics blatantly lacks in India, especially in the Congress and the south Indian political outfits. Confused says:
Watching the Democratic and Republican candidates slug it out in their respective primaries, one cannot but marvel at one aspect of American politics sorely missing in India: inner party democracy. No high commands choose presidential candidates–rather, the system of primaries ensures that anyone can aspire to the party ticket provided he can win majority support among the registered voters.
Politics in India I guess, is personality-driven. Just see the sort of demi-gods status people like Karunanidhi and Sonia Gandhi enjoy in their parties. Not even a leaf can quiver without their nod. Sadly, it takes its toll. For instance, if someone belongs to these parties, you can easily assume that that person is an ass-licker and what can you expect of ass-lickers.
